How many of you have the pro membership? Is it worth it?

@doug It depends on what you are doing. If you are trying to learn about RE and figure out how to calculate numbers and build your brand then it can be well worth it. If you get your value mostly from reading the forum and do not need calculators or a signature block then it is not worth much to you.
Fun story: A year or two ago I was much more active on BP than I am today. I was at a meetup in Denver talking to someone about their investment and imparting pearls of wisdom (grain of salt here). They asked for my card and when I gave it to them they said, “Oh wow! I know you! Well, I don’t, but you answered a couple of my questions on the forum. I remember your logo. You are awesome.” The logo/signature area is part of being a pro, and it helped establish my reputation as someone who is not just making noise to make noise. I also used it as a sanity check to the calculators I was building. I always recommend to build your own, but you don’t know what you don’t know. Having BP’s calculators was helpful in making sure mine was not glaringly wrong.
tl;dr: it is good if you use it, not good if you don’t.

100% agree with @bryan I use the rental analysis calculators to evaluate every deal we do in Milwaukee. And we use them to send to our investors. To me, the BP Pro membership is invaluable, solely for the calculators alone.

Thanks for the feedback @bryan and @stu. The rental calculators are really awesome. I think its just tough for me to justify right now, but possibly in the future.

Do you guys deduct the BP pro fee as an expense on your taxes?

Absolutely @Doug! It is a business expense for training or marketing… either or both, and maybe something else 🙂
While I can’t say I ever used their calculators to check deals (did I mention I like to build my own and trust them more) I actually used their buy and hold calculator to generate a property proforma for an out-of-state purchase. I flew in, spoke with 2 banks, and gave each a packet for that property, my information, etc. that you need for a loan. After they finally wiped the drool from the cover sheet and quit shaking my hand, they both wanted nothing more than to fund me. Was pretty interesting to see how big of a deal presentation is.

Awesome idea @bryan I think the calculators are great. I also think it is a really great way to create your brand and be able to show your company information on your signature line when posting in the forums. That alone does a lot and is another way to market your business.

Thanks @Stu I’ll send you an email! I’ve been meaning to get a BP Pro membership for a while now. I like the fact that you can get all kinds of discounts on other products and services as a Pro member too.
